Construction has restarted on The Glass House apartment complex in Hull's Queen’s Gardens, with managers saying it is on target for summer completion after the site was closed due to Covid-19 restrictions.

As part of the initial measures to gently ease the lockdown, prospective buyers can now also view properties accompanied by estate agents.

The development of 94 apartments, including 21 duplex penthouses, is a central feature of the regeneration scheme by Iguana Developments.

The company has converted several buildings from offices into apartments in Hull City Centre and the Old Town. Jason Coleman, managing director, said: “Following the lockdown delay, we have spoken to our teams who confirm they are happy to get back to work, in the knowledge we are keeping them safe.

“This means we are now back up and running, almost at full capacity. The nature of their work enables them to remain at safe distances, as well as wearing the correct PPE.

“Our selling agent, My Agent, is receiving inquiries from local people wanting to view the apartments and we are pleased to be able to reopen the doors.

“From Saturday, June 6, viewings will be strictly by appointment only, to allow no more than two members of the same household accompanied by one of us.

“We have taken all necessary measures to ensure the safety of potential buyers. All doors will be open to avoid touch contact and we are also providing face masks, gloves and hand sanitiser for use on arrival and exit.”

George Gough, from My Agent, said: “We have seen an immediate surge in inquiries since lockdown was eased for estate agents; prospective buyers seem to have been on hold for nearly two months.

“We are not back to business as usual. Instead we are following very strict guidelines from the Government and have put new procedures in place to ensure visitors are not high-risk, before we can arrange their viewing appointment.

“Potential buyers are quite mixed; young professionals working in the City returning to work and downsizers who have found their home too big during lockdown. We feel very positive about the property market in Hull at the moment.”
